Dr. Vector is an obscure Italian producer who produced some electro/italo disco tracks in the late 80's (from 88 to 91) on his Amiga 500 computer.

Most of them are happy sounding with cheap melodies, but yet really catchy.

The whole tracks were released a few years ago on a cassette compilation called "DR. VECTOR: Made In Italy - The Best of Guillermo Blanco" on the "ShitSuck Tapes" label. As it was a very limited edition (80 copies), the tracks were then shared freely on the label website.

Here is one of theses tracks, one of my favourite. Dirty lyrics, electro breaks.

In 1984 an italian comedy was called "College" was released to theatres. Written and directed by Franco Castellano and Giuseppe Moccia, the movie wasn't a big success. But the movie is not what I will speak about here.

The main title of the movie was made by a band named "College Club", in fact a band name created for the track... Behind this name you have one of the best Italian music producer ever: Claudio Simonetti. I already spoke about him when I uploaded a track from one of his band "Goblin".

The track he produced here is a pure italo disco example. A bit cheesy, catchy and with basic synth line. But a really great track overall.

MASCARA >> A MULTICOLOR DISCO DJ ACTION

Each third thursday of each month, Zaltan & Top Secret take place at Les Disquaires, (a brand new place, rue des Taillandiers / with the team of the 9 Billards) with MASCARA the new mini party with hi-resolution schedule, gathering, thanks to the movements of the dance music culture, newbie, specialists, collectors, amateurs, dancers or simple curious people around some exotic frozen and volcanic Cosmic Electronic Disco rituals. Zaltan & Top Secret have planned for you some terrific guests/collectors DJs, with fascinating musical culture.

For this first party of 2008, they receive two of they colleagues from Elektrosonik. DJ Nuclear and DJ Lemmings.

Way before becoming the world famous hip hop producer we all know, Andre Young, also known as Dr. Dre, was an electronic producer!

During the 80's he worked on several projects such as "World Class Wrekin' Cru" and "N.W.A.". He also produced for other artists and bands such as "Fila Fresh Crew" and "Eazy E".

Most of the productions of theses time are not yet "hip hop" as we know it today, but more some electronic music with real vocals. This is what we call "Electro-funk", and most famous tracks are from Afrika Bambaataa, Planet Patrol, Ice-T, Egyptian Lover, Chris Taylor, Arabian Prince, Herbie Hancock...

The track "Sweet" I give you here is something a bit special. Produced by Dre near 1987/1988, it has a special construction that makes it even more "chicago house" than "electro-funk"!
